On the 14th of May 2009….I thought….only for about 3 minutes….that it really happened. Google Crashed! I was at work minding my own business when I clicked on my Google bookmark on the toolbar. Nothing happened…….NOTHING! Google was DOWN. This has never happened before, or at least to my knowledge. I mean…I’ve never seen Google down.

I had a million thoughts going through my head.

The first thing was that my career as a SEO was over. SEO would be obsolete if Google really crashed….I mean….without Google, SEO wouldn’t even exist. Nobody optimizes their websites for Yahoo, MSN, or Dogpile….everyone optimizes for Google and it’s spiders.

Who says…”hey Yahoo it….or….Dogpile it?” No, they say “Google it.”

About 70% of online searchers use the Google Search when they are searching for something on the internet. If Google really crashed…what would we do?

I’m not sure exactly how long Google was down last Thursday, but I noticed it down for about 3 minutes….and those 3 minutes felt like 3 years in SEO time.
